President Yoweri Museveni has instructed Uganda’s traffic officers to carry firearms following the attempted assassination of Works & Transport Minister Edward Wamala in Kampala last week. He said the four attackers who were on motorcycles could not be detained because the officers were unarmed. A report on the IoL site notes that his daughter Brenda Nantongo and driver Haruna Kayondo were killed in the attack. ‘We have got some good leads,’ Museveni added.
