The EU has suspended targeted sanctions against former first lady Grace Mugabe, but has retained an arms embargo and targeted asset freeze against the country’s state munitions firm. It said a lack of substantial reforms by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Government was adding to the worsening economic and humanitarian crisis. A report on the EWN site notes that the European Council, which met in Brussels on Monday, said it would only maintain sanctions against the state munitions firm, the Zimbabwe Defence Industries, which supplies the army.
