eSwatini scholarships mess-up leaves students stranded

Publish date: 15 December 2025

Category: Education

A series of cases in the courts of eSwatini point to something seriously amiss in the country’s Ministry of Labour and Social Security. As Carmel Rickard explains in her A Matter of Justice column on the Legalbrief site, several students, who say they were awarded scholarship/loans for university study, have found themselves stranded mid-way through their courses because the government denies it ever awarded them the study loans in the first place.
