Cameroon's army has arrested several soldiers and policemen for torturing a suspected 'terrorist' in the country's conflict-scarred anglophone region. A report on the News24 site notes that a 10-minute video posted on social media showed men in military uniforms armed with Kalashnikov rifles and a machete slapping a semi-naked man and kicking him in the head. Military spokesperson Cyrille Guemo said two gendarmes, two soldiers and four police officers 'were caught up in this unacceptable act'. Human Rights Watch researcher Ilaria Allegrozzi said the group welcomed the judicial inquiry. Rights groups say more than 3 000 people have died and 700 000 have fled their homes since 2017 as a result of the violence.
