Police have raised concerns about a proposal to stage a musical festival in a Leicester park. New Zimbabwe reports that organisers of the Africa Music Festival want to hold the event in Abbey Park at the end of August. However, the local police force has asked the city council to deny a permit for the event. It expressed concern over the crime and disorder that occurred when the same event was held in London’s Nelson Mandela Park last year. Y2K Entertainment, which hopes to host the event, said it was told a decision would be made by early this week.
