An Egyptian court has sentenced three men to death and another 41 to life imprisonment for their part in a 2013 attack on a police station near Cairo. A report on the News24 site notes that it marks the latest in a series of mass trials that have drawn scathing criticism from rights groups. As previously reported in Legalbrief Today, a Cairo court sentenced 75 people to death two weeks ago. The suspects in last week's case were charged with storming a police station in the town of Samalout to avenge the violent breakup by security forces of sit-in protests in Cairo.
