South Sudan's media authority will lift a ban on 20 foreign journalists who were denied entry into the country. Earlier this month, the government's media regulatory authority said it had banned the journalists for publishing ‘unsubstantiated and unrealistic stories’. However, a report on the News24 site notes that the National Dialogue Steering Committee, which is tasked with leading consultations to restore peace in the country, put pressure on the authority to lift the ban. The report notes that both government and rebel forces are accused of what many commentators regard to be war crimes.
