Law students failing Bar exams

A new report has revealed the significant decline in the number of law students being admitted as advocates of Kenya's High Court between 2009 and 2016. Of the 16 086 students who sat for the Bar examinations administered by Council of Legal Education (CLE), just 7 530 passed. The report by a task force on legal sector reforms that was chaired by prominent lawyer Fred Ojiambo, was discussed by stakeholders at a conference in Mombasa which ended on Thursday. The Daily Nation reports that many of the 5 298 students who failed their Bar exams are still actively employed in the field of law, working at law firms, in government or universities.
