The Faculty of Law is looking to fill a vacancy in the Department of Private Law. The main responsibility of the incumbent will be to contribute to excellence in the Faculty of Law. The incumbent will lecture primarily in the field of the Law of Succession, but will also assume further teaching responsibilities within the Department and Faculty, taking into account relevant factors. The incumbent will furthermore conduct research that focuses on the Law of Succession and provide postgraduate supervision that focuses on the Law of Succession. The incumbent must also contribute to the administrative functioning of the Faculty, and perform other duties as assigned by the Faculty.

The Department of Private Law is responsible for teaching several of the core modules in the LLB curriculum. This includes the Law of Persons, Family Law, African Customary Law, Law of Succession, Property Law, Law of Civil Procedure, Law of Contract, Law of Delict and Specific Contracts. The Department also offers various electives at final year level and a selection of modules at postgraduate level, including the Law of Trusts. The Department also has a strong focus on research within these fields as well as other private law areas.

Die Regsfakulteit beskik oor ’n vakature in die Departement Privaatreg. As hoofverantwoordelikheid sal die posbekleër ’n bydrae moet maak tot uitnemendheid in die Regsfakulteit. Die posbekleër sal primêr in die gebied van die Erfreg doseer, maar sal ook verdere onderrigverpligtinge binne die Departement of Fakulteit moet opneem, met inagneming van toepaslike faktore. Die posbekleër sal voorts navorsing moet doen wat fokus op die Erfreg en nagraadse begeleiding moet verskaf wat fokus op die Erfreg. Die Departement bied ook verskeie keuse-modules op finalejaar-vlak aan en ʼn keuse van modules op nagraadse vlak, met inbegrip van Trustreg. Die Departement het ook ʼn sterk fokus op navorsing binne hierdie velde asook ander privaatreg-areas.
