Unions welcome ConCourt's Nkandla ruling

Cosatu has described last Thursday's Constitutional Court ruling on the Nkandla upgrades as 'exceptionally significant' for SA's growing democracy. According to Business Report, the federation said that the decision would help shed light on contentious issues regarding the separation of powers in the country. The Constitutional Court found that President Jacob Zuma breached the Constitution when he failed to heed Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela's report on non-security improvements to his private residence in Nkandla. The court ordered him to reimburse the state an amount to be determined by the National Treasury. Cosatu said it respects the clarity provided by the court's ruling.
