Wealthy heiress sues brothers

A wealthy Greek heiress is suing in the Port Elizabeth High Court two brothers for R20m she alleges they fleeced her of.

Christina Orphanides claims that between September, 2002, and October, 2002 Roy and Gary Scallan through their company, Broadlands Finance International, had her invest an estimated R20m in Australian companies through five different transactions. Orphanides, who is being represented by advocate Albert Beyleveld, alleges the investments made by her were as a ‘direct result of the intentional misrepresentations’ made to her by the brothers. She claims that R20m of her money was instead used by either or both of the brothers ‘for their personal benefit’. Full report in The Herald
