Tshwane descriptions by SABC inaccurate BCC
The Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC) has ruled in favour of the Freedom Front Plus on the party\'s complaint against the SABC\'s description of Pretoria as Tshwane, says a report on the News24 site.
In a summary of its judgment yesterday, the BCC said the FF Plus had complained about inaccurate news reporting by the public broadcaster when referring to places where events took place, such as Onderstepoort, outside Tshwane, Mamelodi, east of Tshwane, and the city centre of Tshwane. This created the impression that the areas were outside the Tshwane metropolitan municipality, whereas they were all within the municipal area. The said descriptions are inaccurate and as such they constitute a contravention of... the code. The commission said the complaint was upheld although no penalty was imposed.
