Travel scam accused cannot halt liquidation of travel agency
Travel scam accused Graham Geduldt\'s efforts to halt the liquidation of his travel agency have been dismissed by the Cape High Court despite his claims that his business was just over R3m in the black.
Geduldt is one of seven travel agents charged in the multimillion-rand Travelgate saga and is accused of making false claims to parliament to the amount of R2.8m. The hearing demonstrated existing tensions between Geduldt and Eileen Fey, the liquidator whose appointment he unsuccessfully challenged in the High Court last month. It emerged in court that Geduldt intends to appeal Judge Dennis Davis\'s dismissal of his application to freeze Fey\'s appointment, pending a review of its validity. The total claims against Geduldt currently stand at some R4.3-million but he maintains that parliament owes him about R500 000 and dismisses its R2.88m over-invoicing claim as incorrect. Judge Deon van Zyl said he recognised the inconveniences of the liquidation process, but said he was not convinced that it should not be allowed to continue. Full report in the Cape Argus
