Jon Smee, who has a number of previous convictions and is from Greater Manchester, was given a four-month custodial sentence. – The Independent * A R5.5m settlement has been reached between the 35 families of the victims of the Ellis Park soccer disaster and organisers of the event. – Sunday Times * Mining magnate Roger Kebble is expected to appear before a Johannesburg magistrate today to face charges of fraud and contravening the Companies Act. It has been more than two years since Kebble was arrested in connection with allegations that he received R6.3m via Skilled Labour Brokers – his own company – while he was executive chairman and later deputy chairman of Durban Roodepoort Deep, now DRDGold. – Business Day * An advertising campaign that says the mouthwash Listerine is as effective as floss at fighting tooth and gum decay is false and misleading and poses a public health risk, a judge has ruled. US District Judge Denny Chin said he will order Pfizer, maker of Listerine, to stop the advertising campaign. The lawsuit was brought by a Johnson & Johnson company that makes dental floss. – Finance24
