SA has evidence of Dockrats’ al-Qaeda links – US

The US had provided the SA Government with strong evidence of the links between the Dockrat cousins and al-Qaeda a long time ago, a senior US official said yesterday, according to a report in The Mercury.

She was commenting on the US attempt to get UN sanctions imposed on Farhad Ahmed Dockrat and Junaid Ismail Dockrat because they had either transferred money to al-Qaeda or had helped individuals travel to al-Qaeda training camps. SA has just used its new position on the UN Security Council to prevent the US putting the Dockrats on the UN sanctions list until the government has had time to discuss the charges against them further. After this, the US slapped its own travel and financial sanctions on them. The official said the classified case against the Dockrats was ‘legally sufficient’ and ‘filled a few grocery carts’.
