NPA may make quick move for Mauritius documents – expert

Robin Palmer, law expert at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, says it is possible that the State will make an immediate application get hold of the documents in Mauritius in its corruption case against Jacob Zuma, the former Deputy President, while the appeal from Zuma\'s lawyer is pending.

A report on the SABC News site says French arms company Thint has indicated they will join Jacob Zuma in appealing against Monday’s ruling by Judge Phillip Levinsohn approving a letter of request by the NPA to obtain documents from Mauritius regarding their investigations against Thint. Both Thint and Zuma\'s legal representatives are expected to file their applications for leave to appeal next week. Panyaza Lesufi, NPA spokesperson, says they are already trying to get hold of the documents. Lesufi added that they had not received any formal notification that there was to be an appeal against Monday’s judgment. Full report on the SABC News site
