Murder accused is holding court to ransom
* The prosecution in the murder trial of William Mokushane (27) has accused him of holding the court to ransom.
This comes after Mokushane, accused of holding occupational therapy student Nolitha Mlanduli hostage and then shooting her, lost his second Legal Aid Board counsel. Mokushane was due to go on trial last year for the 2005 shooting, according to the Pretoria News. At the time he said he could not get along with his LAB-appointed advocate. Another counsel was appointed but she last week also withdrew because Mokushane could not give her instructions. The LAB told Judge Johan Els that it would appoint a third advocate, provided Mokushane motivate why he and his counsel could not see eye to eye. Els postponed the matter to October 30, but warned this would be the last time. Full Pretoria News report
