Man gets life sentence plus 58 years for robbery and murder
The Potchefstroom High Court has jailed 40-year-old Michael Thlako for life, plus an additional 58 years, for his part in the robbery and the murder of a police officer outside Hartebeesfontein in the North West province in January 1999.
Sergeant Andries Dire (31) was shot and died at the scene while 34-year-old Sergeant Saul Seitisho sustained various gunshot wounds and recovered later. The police officers had stopped a stolen vehicle driven by Thlako and his accomplice, who is still at large. Full report on IoL site
