Law Society defends KZN’s top judge

The KwaZulu-Natal Law Society has defended KwaZulu-Natal Judge President Vuka Tshabalala, who was ‘heckled, jeered and insulted for agreeing that a murder charge against four Midlands farmers be withdrawn on Monday’, says a report in The Mercury.

The society said yesterday that it had noted with concern the events in the Pietermaritzburg High Court after the state announced the withdrawal of a murder charge against Mid-Illovo farmers Justin Lusso and Nicholas van Rooyen and Lance Moller and Shane Redgard, of the Farm Protection Unit Security Services, arising from the death of Bonginkosi Dlamini on August 16 last year. Law Society President Raj Badal said while the charges were serious, the attack on the judge by protesters was ‘unjustified and unwarranted’. Full Mercury report
