Jakavula paid R1,15m in Transnet house row, and other brief reports

* Spoornet’s former CE, Zandile Jakavula, will be paid R1.15m by Transnet in terms of an out-of-court settlement agreement reached between the two parties. This brings to an end a two-year legal battle between Jakavula and his former employer following allegations that he acted inappropriately when he bought a house in 2001 in Eastern Cape that was owned by Spoornet for less that its market value. – Business Day

She is being represented by Mahendra Ori under the instruction of the University of Pretoria\'s centre for child law. – The Witness * The Port Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court has released Bongani Nyongo (37), who is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, on bail of R300 after his lawyer argued that he was a single parent and had to work to support his children. He will appear in court again on December 8. – The Herald * The Human Rights Commission’s probe into alleged violations of the Khomani San community has begun in Andriesvale in the Northern Cape. The Commission is investigating allegations of victimisation and harassment, which include neglect and abuse of community members by government departments and others. – SABC News
