* Durban film director Anant Singh whose proposed R700m Durban Film City development on the Natal Command site faces a legal challenge from Karamchand Sunny Gayadins Giant Concerts has filed an application to obtain security for legal costs in the matter. * A charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm has been withdrawn against Jan Dirk Els (38), the brother of golfer Ernie Els. He was arrested in April after he was accused of hitting and kicking his fiancée, Angela Grobbelaar. It was agreed to send Els on a diversion programme, which, if completed successfully, would result in the charges being withdrawn. IoL * Three men charged with the murder of a 55-year-old retired Telkom employee two years ago were found guilty of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances at the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday. Welcome Ngcobo (20), Hamilton Zaca (20) and Lindelani Maphanga (21), all from the Vulindlela area, murdered Andrew Ferguson on November 26, 2002 at his home in Pietermaritzburg. The men will be sentenced today. The Witness * The Johannesburg High Court has found Ashwin Lawrence (21) and Darryl Bashing (23) guilty of stabbing and burning to death 15-year-old Sebastian May in 2002. The state has called for life sentences for the pair. Sentence will be passed on Tuesday.
