DJ suspect in Knysna trial could be a \'serial murderer\'
The Cape Circuit Court heard that an examination of the murders of Jessica Wheeler and Victoria Stadler indicated that the same person who could be classified as a serial murderer had killed them.
The Cape Times reports that former nightclub disc jockey Heinrich van Rooyen (25) will spend a third Christmas behind bars as Judge Nathan Erasmus has postponed the hearing until 10 March 2008. Senior Superintendent Gerard Labuschagne, Commander of the SAPS Investigative Psychology Unit, said both killings were sexual murders (the bodies were partially clothed and semen was found in Wheeler\'s body and on Stadler\'s clothes) and both had died from asphyxiation (Wheeler from inhaling soil; Stadler had been strangled). The time in between the crimes is known as a cooling-off period during which the offender continues with his everyday life until the urge or the need to commit the next offence reaches a point at which he must act upon it, he said.
