Court battle over new BMW
A Durban businessman who bought a \'new\' BMW for more than R600 000 in December 2005 has taken the dealership he bought the vehicle from and BMW Financial Services to the Durban High Court, claiming the vehicle had been registered three times before he bought it.
Koosial Singh, notes The Mercury, says the car has remained parked in his garage while he attempted to negotiate with BMW and SMG Auto Durban for a new vehicle. Now he is seeking a High Court order that he be given a new BMW bearing a registration date in 2006. The two companies are opposing the application. They say that the vehicle was mistakenly registered in the name of another client, who had expressed interest in the car but had never bought it. When the mistake was discovered, the vehicle was then re-registered under another number previously allocated to, but not used by, a director of the dealership. The vehicle was then kept in the new vehicle stock during which time it was given another registration number. Full report in The Mercury
