Coca-Cola settles European Commission case

Coca-Cola has reached an agreement with the European Commission, which had accused the soft drink maker of breaching antitrust laws.

In the agreement, reports the Financial Times, Coca-Cola will have to make deep changes to its marketing practices in Europe. In exchange, it will not have to pay a fine and will not be found guilty of breaking European Union competition law. The deal puts an end to one of the commission\'s most controversial recent antitrust investigations. Criticism has focused in particular on the length of the probe. Some have also argued that the commission let itself be dragged into the fierce commercial rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi, the original complainant in the Commission case.
