Zille and party members face charges over Midvaal

Charges of obstructing justice have been levelled against DA leader Helen Zille, Midvaal mayor Timothy Nast and four other party members, says a Cape Times report.

It notes the two, plus federal chair James Selfe, DA Gauteng leader John Moodey, chief strategist Ryan Coetzee and DA Gauteng deputy chairperson Thomas Walters are accused of ignoring maladministration in the Midvaal region. According to the report, former DA councillor Kobus Hoffman laid the charges. He alleges that they failed to report criminal actions, including fraud, corruption, theft and maladministration to the relevant authorities, and allowed DA regional chairperson Andre Odendaal and other senior officials of the Midvaal municipality to continue with illegal activities to the public's detriment.
