SA politicians got arms deal gifts - report

New evidence suggests British arms company BAE bribed senior SA politicians with lavish gifts to win a R20bn arms deal tender, claims a Sunday Times report.

It says the alleged bribes - it names former Minister Stella Sigcau as one of the recipients - are revealed in a series of encrypted faxes and interviews with former BAE staffers. BAE allegedly bankrolled Sigcau's daughter, Portia Sigcau to ensure the Ministers backing for the deal, according to the report. BAE also funded trips of politicians to a golf tournament in Scotland.
