Kaizer Chiefs boss allegedly facing corruption charges
Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung is allegedly facing charges over corruption in the building of the Mbombela Stadium, says a Mail & Guardian Online report.
Speculation that Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has been arrested on corruption charges abounds in the media, but neither the Hawks nor Kaizer Chiefs would confirm his arrest. Hawks spokesperson McIntosh Polela confirmed that two people have been arrested, one in Naturena, where Kaizer Chiefs is based, and another in Cape Town. A third person is being sought. Polela said that although news outlets are speculating on the identity of the men, he could not provide their names as they have yet to be charged. The men will appear in court in Nelspruit (Thursday). However, Polela confirmed that the arrest concerned Lefika Emerging Equity's submission of a forged SARS document in a tender application. 'This has to do with allegations of fraud, forgery and theft to do with the building of the Mbombela Stadium,' said Polela, who added that the arrests are part of a wider investigation in which other companies and individuals have been implicated.
