* A Durban police detective has appeared in court on fraud and corruption charges related to a scam in which people were tricked into handing over thousands of rands as part of a ‘land claims settlement’. Inspector Sibusiso Msomi, of Greenwood Park, was arrested on Saturday by members of the Hibberdene police. – The Mercury report not available online

* Pretoria police have uncovered a fraudulent ID operation being run in the toilets of the Department of Home Affairs in Pretoria. Two men, aged 36 and 66, were detained by police for questioning after a team of eight undercover officers found illegal documents hidden in the ceiling of a men\'s toilet cubicle at the offices. – Pretoria News * A National Development Agency accounts clerk has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to allegations of misappropriating R8.7m at the entity last year. Allegations of misrepresentation of the clerk\'s qualifications will also be investigated. – Business Report * Thuso and Mammontha Motaung, a popular Lesedi FM couple who are accused of defrauding the SABC of millions, appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court this week. Their case has been postponed to March 9 for further investigation. They face 17 charges including fraud, corruption and money laundering. – SABC News
