Bid to quiz Mugabe over diamond graft postponed

Former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe will not appear before a parliamentary committee this week to answer questions on multibillion-dollar corruption in the diamond industry after the hearing was postponed. He had been summoned to appear before a Mines and Energy Committee yesterday (Wednesday). However, MP Temba Mliswa, who is leading the inquiry, said the hearing had been postponed to a date yet to be decided. A report on the News24 site notes that the lawmakers plan to question Mugabe over his 2016 claim that the country had lost $15bn due to corruption and foreign exploitation in the diamond sector.
