Widow wins estate scrap

Miriam Kangai, the widow of Zimbabwean liberation hero Kumbirai Kangai, who has been embroiled in a wrangle with her late husband’s children over his estate, has won her case in the High Court. Kangai’s eldest daughter, Mara Hativagone, wanted Miriam stripped of her 50% shareholding of Luna Estates but the court ruled that her application 'lacked weight'. New Zimbabwe reports that Kangai, who died in 2013, left a will stating that everything he owned must be shared between his wife and children. Mara was supported in the application by six siblings, but two others backed Miriam. The estate is believed to be worth millions of dollars.
