A school girl has ben hit by a stray bullet in Lagos during a violent clash between police and a mob protesting the ban on commercial motorcycles. The victim is receiving treatment in hospital. The Premium Times reports that the protesters also damaged vehicles and lit fires on the highways. Police spokesperson Bala Elkana said 34 suspects have been arrested and would appear in court. As previously reported in Legalbrief Today, the city has banned motorcycles from many areas of the city, citing overcrowding and safety. The ban cites a 2018 law and bars them from 40 bridges and flyovers and areas covering the business districts of Victoria Island and Lagos Island where the primary port is located as well as Ikeja, which is home to the international airport.
