Top graft buster side-lined

Namibian Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has cancelled the appointment of the Anti-Corruption Commission's chief of investigations just days after his promotion. Phelem Masule, a former police detective was promoted to his position from 1 August to replace Nelius Becker who rejoined the Namibian Police Service last year. The position of commission chief includes investigating the Fishrot graft scandal. Cabinet Secretary George Simataa confirmed the nullification of Masule's appointment saying the process was flawed. The Namibian reports that there were 19 applications for the position, and one of the applicants lodged a complaint. ‘Therefore, the process should be declared null and void in order to start afresh,’ Simataa added.
