Tobacco mules detained in Namibia
A plan by an SA couple to buy cigarettes in Namibia to beat the ban on the sale of alcohol and tobacco products has landed them behind bars. The Namibian reports that police spokesperson Chrispin Mubebo confirmed that the suspects were detained in Noordoewer after crossing the Orange River on foot. He added that in a separate case, a South African male was also arrested near the same town after crossing the river in a canoe to purchase tobacco. Mubebo said the suspects were in custody in Karasburg and would be deported of spending 14 days in quarantine.
