Tanzania’s opposition ACTW (Alliance for Change and Transparency-Wazalendo) has lost a High Court petition challenging Nashon Bidyanguze’s election win. The Tanzania Daily News notes that this followed a ruling by Justice Ilvin Mgeta that ACTW candidate Bakema Rashid lodged his petition after the 30-day deadline. ‘By the above rule, read together with 8 (1) of the Election Rules, the petition filed on November 30, 2020 at 19.21 hours was filed out of time for two days,’ the judge ruled.
