Suspects arrested over oxygen cylinder thefts

Two suspects are being detained in Uganda on allegations of stealing oxygen as Covid-19 cases surge in the country. A report on the IoL site notes that the 40 oxygen cylinders were removed from the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. ‘We received intelligence information that the cylinders were taken to a private health facility,’ said Elgon police spokesperson Rogers Taitika. The WHO has recorded 60 000 Covid-19 cases in Uganda, with 402 deaths.
