Military and opposition agree to share power

Sudan's military leaders have reached an agreement with the opposition alliance to share power before holding elections, mediators say. The two sides agreed to rotate control of the sovereign council – the top tier of power where both want a majority. BBC News reports that they have also pledged to form an independent technocratic government and to investigate the recent violence. The latest round of talks took place in Khartoum and were mediated by the Ethiopian Prime Minister and members of the AU. 'The two sides agreed on establishing a sovereign council with a rotating military and civilian (presidency) for a period of three years or a little more,' said AU mediator Mohamed Hassan Lebatt in the early hours of this morning.
