Storm over TV presenter’s onboard altercation
An onboard altercation involving television presenter Shamiso Mosaka has sparked a social media storm. IoL reports that Mosaka was thrown off a Fly CemAir plane in Durban by the police for allegedly being disruptive before take-off last Sunday. Mosaka went live on social media and her witnesses were adamant that she was not disruptive. Police attempted to escort the MTV Base presenter off the plane as she defended herself, arguing that the air hostess was racist. ‘I was not once vulgar, or inappropriate, or disruptive or disrespectful to anyone on the plane,’ she said. Fly CemAir issued a statement about the saga. ‘A late boarded passenger became unruly and abusive, refusing to follow the lawful instructions of the cabin crew member. When the cabin crew member determined that she was unable to reason with the passenger she informed the captain,’ it said. The airline added that while under police escort from the aircraft ‘the passenger freed herself and attempted to gain access to the aircraft flight deck (which) is a serious offence’. The SA Civil Aviation Authority said it was a crime to assault or threaten, whether physically or verbally, or behave in a violent manner towards any person (including a crew member), if it is likely to endanger the safety or security of an aircraft or anyone on board.
