Ethiopian authorities say they have detained people suspected of inciting ethnic violence at a university campus which led to the death of three students. Higher Education Minister Samuel Kifle did not give the number of those arrested, but said there was an ongoing operation to arrest other suspects. He said the students were killed after clashes between learners at Woldia University in northern Ethiopia. The Metu and Jimma universities in the south-western region and Medawelabu University in Addis Ababa also experienced similar problems. BBC News reports that security forces have been deployed to several universities in an attempt to control the unrest.
