Signs of hope for sex workers

Through her Angel of Hope Foundation, Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa is rolling out empowerment initiatives to ensure that commercial sex workers earn a decent living. The Herald reports that she has urged sex workers to undergo regular health checks and is providing the foundation’s mobile clinic so ensure that they are screened. ‘We want to put our heads together and see how we can preserve health,’ she said. Harare sex worker Amai Mnangagwa told Mnangwa that she has ‘scars all over my body’. Another told her that ‘this profession is very dangerous we always come across unspeakable things’.
