Opposition leader re-arrested

Dr Sylvia Blyden, a leading member of Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People's Congress (APC), is back in jail in Freetown after her bail was revoked. The lawmaker had been granted bail last week after spending 29 days in detention. However, it was revoked after she allegedly posted inflammatory comments on social media after her release. ‘From my cross examination of their first state witness, it was clear they had no case against me,’ Blyden said. A report on the allAfrica site notes that she was arrested after President Julius Bio accused the APC of an ‘unrelenting barrage of attacks’ aimed at making the west African nation ‘ungovernable’. ‘Anybody who incites, plans, supports, undertakes, or is involved in any manner of violence in #SierraLeone will be dealt with within the broad spectrum of the law,’ he tweeted.
