Sierra Leone officials suspended over ‘improper’ donation

Sierra Leone's Labour Minister Alpha Timbo and three other government officials have been suspended in an alleged corruption case involving a rice donation to the country. President Julius Maada Bio's office said in a terse statement that Timbo was suspected of ‘improper activities’ relating to ‘a huge quantity of rice’ donated by Beijing. A report on the News24 site notes that presidential spokesperson Yusuf Sandi said the anti-corruption authority was investigating the matter.
