A Nigerian senator who assaulted a woman in a sex toy shop in Abuja has apologised, saying ‘I have never been known or associated with such actions in the past.’ This after CCTV footage which showed Elisha Abbo striking a shop assistant was published by the online newspaper Premium Times. The lawmaker told the BBC that the video was ‘doctored’ and the footage where he was attacked by the woman had been edited out. Police are investigating the incident while the Senate has set up a committee to probe the matter.
