Renamo has lodged court papers calling for the 15 October election results to be annulled due to 'massive electoral fraud'. The official opposition lost the election to Frelimo, securing under 22% of the vote. It submitted an official complaint to the National Electoral Commission addressing 'all the misconduct that took place during the elections'. A report on the News24 site notes that it has accused the government of 'massive electoral fraud'. The courts have already convicted 158 people for electoral misconduct, while at least 140 more are still awaiting trial. Fourteen suspects are accused of ballot box stuffing. Supreme Court spokesperson Pedro Nhatitima said most complaints have been dismissed because they weren't lodged within 48 hours of the election results being posted.
