A prominent lawyer close to detained Cameroon opposition leader Maurice Kamto has been arrested. Michele Ndoki has been charged with the same offences as Kamto, who is being held for insurrection, hostility to the homeland and rebellion. A report on the News24 site notes that Kamto, head of the opposition Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC), claims he was cheated out of victory when Paul Biya was elected to a seventh term as President in last October's election. Ndoki and about 150 supporters were detained following a protest in Douala on 26 January. On the same day, Cameroonians living abroad hostile to the Yaoundé Government attacked the country's embassies in France and Germany.
