A draft Prescription in Civil and Criminal Matters (Certain Sexual Offences) Amendment Bill released last Friday for comment includes tougher provisions in respect of ‘debt based on the commission of an alleged sexual offence’. It also seeks to extend the list of sexual offences in respect of which prosecution may be instituted after 20 years has lapsed from the date on which the alleged offence occurred.
