Preacher on the run over Bentley scam
A Zimbabwean man accused of colluding with prominent church leader Uebert Angel Mudzanire to defraud a Harare businessman of his $300 000 Bentley Continental, has denied the charge. New Zimbabwe reports that Anderson Tagara has pleaded not guilty to two counts of fraud before Harare Regional Magistrate Noel Mupeiwa. Tagara – who operates a car dealership in the capital – is accused of assisting Mudzanire who is on the run. The complainant, Ndabazinengi Shava, said he entered into a verbal agreement with Tagara to facilitate the importation of the Bentley Continental motor vehicle. He said he lost the vehicle when he gave it to Mudzanire as ‘seed’ after he was promised the value of the car would triple within three months. During this period, Mudzanire allegedly registered the vehicle in his own name.
