Popular radio presenter suspended

Harare radio station TAR FM has suspended presenter Tichafa Matambanadzo - popularly known as Tich Mataz - after launching an investigation into claims that he diverted advertising revenues to two companies where he is believed to have interests.

A report on the newzimbabwe.com site notes that the radio station, launched in June last year, has seen rapid growth propelled by the talents of its top presenters, including Matambanadzo. Justin Mutasa, group CEO of the Zimbabwe Newspaper Group (Zimpapers), which own the radio station, said Matambanadzo had been suspended with Acie Lumumba, who hosted a talk show. Zimpapers say they are being investigated after an internal audit 'unearthed irregular transactions involving two companies Hamtech Investments and Onesay Investments', the report states.
