Officials accused of selling state land illegally

Three Zimbabwean local government officials have been implicated in a fraudulent land deal in which they allegedly connived to allocate 120 hectares of state land to a private developer. Christopher Shumba, Ethel Mlalazi and Kristina Chikotera are accused of selling the land to Delatfin Investments. A report on the allAfrica site notes that the Zvimba Rural District Council (RDC) in 2011 issued a tender for the development of Haydon Farm measuring in exchange for a partnership agreement with a private developer. Delatfin’s layout plan was then approved without consulting council in violation of the Regional Town and Country Planning Act.
