Nigerian football administrator addresses Fifa ban

Nigeria’s former national football coach Samson Siasia has called for calm over his life ban by Fifa on Friday. This followed a match-fixing probe by global football’s governing body. The Premium Times reports that he was also fined $60 000. Fifa said its independent ethics committee found the 51-year-old ‘guilty of having accepted that he will receive bribes in relation to manipulation of matches in violation of (the) Fifa code of ethics.’ His case is the latest to emerge from Fifa's long-running investigation into the activities of ‘known match fixer’ Wilson Raj Perumal who lives in Singapore. The former international player was appointed Super Eagles head coach from 2010 to 2011 and he was reappointed in 2016. He said his lawyer was addressing the matter 'and we will come up with our position and further action to be taken on the issue'.
