Nigeria extends border ban
The Nigerian Government has delayed the re-opening of its land borders saying the measure has reduced the inflow of arms and ammunition inflow to Boko Haram guerrillas and kidnappers by 95%. Vanguard reports that Information and Culture Minister Alhaji Mohammed said the clampdown has also resulted in the arrest of about 296 illegal immigrants. He was addressing concerns raised by the Association of Nigerian Licenced Customs Agents which objects to the closure of land borders and the ‘illegal seizure of legitimate goods which duty had been paid’.
